Currently riding a nine-game winning streak to open the 2025–26 campaign, the Big Bend Community College women's basketball team entered the Roadrunner Classic with momentum and confidence. The tournament, however, would test the Lady Vikings early as they opened play against undefeated Clackamas.
BBCC uncharacteristically fell behind in the first half and struggled to regain its rhythm, ultimately suffering its first loss of the season, 66–50. The Lady Vikings had trouble finding consistency on the offensive end, shooting just 36 percent from the floor and 58 percent from the free-throw line. Despite the setback, Kaliyah Evans led BBCC with 19 points, while Oaklie Jackman added 14 points in the loss.
Determined to bounce back, BBCC faced the host Roadrunners in game two and responded with a strong, balanced effort. The Lady Vikings edged out the Roadrunners 64–57, with depth and teamwork proving to be the difference. Evans, Brooke Warren, Oaklie Jackman, and Oakley Homer all scored in double figures, while Jackman recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge.
In the third and final game of the tournament, BBCC looked to close the weekend on a high note—and did so in emphatic fashion. The Lady Vikings overwhelmed Mount Hood, cruising to a dominant 72–30 victory. Jackman, Evans, Warren, and Homer once again reached double figures, as BBCC's defense and tempo set the tone from the opening tip.
While the Lady Vikings did not have their sharpest shooting weekend, BBCC showed resilience and depth, finishing 2–1 at the Roadrunner Classic against quality competition. Big Bend now turns its attention to one final preseason tune-up at the Skagit Valley Tournament in the new year, before conference play officially gets underway.
