Lady Vikings Extend Win Streak With Thrilling Road Victory Over North Idaho

Riding a five-game win streak, the Big Bend Community College Lady Vikings traveled to North Idaho College to face the perennial powerhouse NIC Cardinals in what proved to be a dramatic, down-to-the-wire contest. With the latest coaching polls ranking Big Bend No. 5 in the NWAC, the Lady Vikes stepped into Coeur d'Alene looking to validate their rise—and they did exactly that.

The opening half did not go the way Big Bend had hoped, trailing at the break 46-41 after a slow start defensively. But the second half belonged to the Lady Vikings. Refusing to fold on the road, BBCC tightened up on the defensive end and flipped the pace of the game. In the fourth quarter alone, the Vikings held the Cardinals to just 31% shooting, sparking a late surge that led to a stunning comeback victory, edging North Idaho 67-66.

Brooke Warren spearheaded the offensive effort with a team-high 20 points, while Kaliyah Evans delivered a major lift of her own—dropping 19 points and knocking down all four of her three-point attempts. Despite not having her most efficient night shooting, Oaklie Jackman found other ways to impact the game, recording a gritty double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

With the win, Big Bend pushes its streak to six straight and continues trending upward within the NWAC landscape.

The Lady Vikings now turn their focus to a busy three-game weekend at the Whatcom Community College Crossover Tournament. They open Friday against Centralia College, take on host Whatcom on Saturday, and close out the tournament Sunday against Southwest Oregon. Another strong showing could further solidify their place among the conference's elite.
