Lady Vikings Battle Hard but Fall to Columbia Basin in Three Sets
Coming off back-to-back tough losses to open conference play, the Big Bend Community College Lady Vikings were eager to turn things around when they hosted Columbia Basin College on Friday, September 26th.
Unfortunately, BBCC stumbled out of the gate, dropping the opening set by a decisive 25–12 margin. Unlike their previous match, where they started strong before fading, the Lady Vikes flipped the script this time—struggling early but clawing their way into the fight as the match went on.
The second and third sets were true battles, with BBCC trading points down the stretch before narrowly falling 26–24 and 25–23.
Oaklee Woosley paced the Lady Vikings' attack with five kills, while Haedynn Plum and Charley Utley each chipped in with four apiece. On the defensive side, Jah Chong and Natania Vela anchored the back row, combining for 17 digs in the losing effort.
With the loss, BBCC continues to search for their first conference victory, but they'll have little time to dwell. The Lady Vikings are set for a quick turnaround and a lengthy road trip, heading to Ontario, Oregon, to take on Treasure Valley Community College on October 1st.
