Lady Vikes Earn Revenge in Thrilling Overtime Win Over Hawks

Hoping to get their revenge against the Hawks, BBCC hosted Columbia Basin College on Wednesday, February 11th at the DeVries Activity Center, looking to even the season series. With their only conference loss coming at the hands of the Hawks, the Lady Vikes were more than ready for the challenge.

The first half lived up to the billing, as both teams battled back and forth in a tightly contested matchup. Neither side was able to create much separation, but BBCC managed to carry a slim 34-32 advantage into halftime.

The intensity only ramped up in the second half. Columbia Basin clawed its way back, matching the Lady Vikes possession for possession. With the game hanging in the balance, the Hawks found a way to even the score just as the clock struck triple zeros, forcing overtime and setting up a dramatic finish.

In the extra frame, BBCC kept its foot on the gas. The Lady Vikes executed down the stretch, knocking down key shots and coming up with crucial defensive stops to secure an 80-75 victory in front of their home crowd.

Kaliyah Evans delivered a standout performance, leading all scorers with 28 points while shooting a scorching 7-of-11 from beyond the arc. She also facilitated the offense with eight assists in a complete all-around effort. Oakley Homer provided strong support with 20 points and five assists, while Oaklie Jackman put the finishing touch on the win with another double-double, tallying 10 points and 13 rebounds.

With the season series now even, the Lady Vikes look to carry their momentum on the road as they travel to Pendleton, Oregon, to face the Timberwolves.
