Lady Vikes’ “Big Three” Combine for 72
Coming off a spectacular preseason in which they finished 14–1, the Lady Vikings were eager to carry that momentum into the regular season as they traveled to Wenatchee Valley College to face the Knights.
The opening quarter set the tone for a competitive contest, with both teams trading baskets throughout the first 10 minutes. Neither side was able to gain separation, and the game was deadlocked at 18–18 at the end of the first quarter. BBCC began to find a rhythm in the second quarter, creating a bit of breathing room before the break and taking a five-point advantage into halftime.
The third quarter mirrored the tightly contested first, as neither team was willing to give ground. Both squads matched each other shot for shot, keeping the margin largely unchanged heading into the final period. That's when the Lady Vikings put their foot on the gas.
BBCC took control in the fourth quarter, elevating the pace and capitalizing on key stops and efficient offense to pull away. The surge proved too much for Wenatchee Valley to overcome, as the Lady Vikings secured an 88–74 victory to open their campaign on a high note.
The Lady Vikings' "big three" of Oakley Homer, Oaklie Jackman, and Brooke Warren were the difference, combining for an impressive 72 of BBCC's 88 points. Homer led all scorers with 27 points, shooting 9-of-16 from the field and knocking down seven of her 10 attempts from beyond the arc. Warren followed closely with 24 points on 6-of-14 shooting, while going a perfect 9-for-9 from the free-throw line. Jackman added another strong all-around performance, recording a double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds on 8-of-12 shooting.
With the season now underway, BBCC will look to continue its strong play as the Lady Vikings return home to host Treasure Valley Community College this Saturday at the DeVries Activity Center.
