The Lady Vikings hit the road this weekend for an in-season tournament, opening play on a high note before running into a string of tough opponents over the remainder of the weekend.
BBCC began the tournament with an impressive performance against Grays Harbor Community College. The Lady Vikings came out swinging, plating runs in each of the first five innings and controlling the game from start to finish in an 11-3 victory. Peyton Trautman led the charge offensively, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while Mady Morris added a strong performance of her own with three hits in the win.
Game two proved to be a much steeper challenge as the Lady Vikings squared off with Chemeketa Community College. BBCC found itself in an early hole, trailing 7-0 after the first two innings. Despite efforts to battle back, the deficit was too much to overcome, and the Lady Vikings fell 10-2.
The competition didn't ease up in game three, as BBCC faced a powerhouse in Lower Columbia College. The Lady Vikings struggled to generate offense against a tough pitching staff and were shut out in an 8-0 loss.
In their fourth and final game of the weekend, the Lady Vikings matched up against the top-ranked team in the NWAC, Mount Hood Community College. The finale proved to be a difficult one, as Mount Hood showcased its firepower in a 25-1 victory to close out the tournament.
Despite a strong start, the weekend served as a learning experience for the Lady Vikings against high-level competition.
BBCC now turns its focus back to conference play, hitting the road once again this Wednesday as they travel to Spokane to take on the Sasquatch.
