BBCC Women’s Wrestling Places 13th at NJCAA Nationals

The BBCC women's wrestling program hit the road to compete in the NJCAA National Championship in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Entering the tournament as underdogs with no ranked wrestlers, the Lady Vikes put on a strong showing, finishing 13th out of 22 teams.

Natalie Johnson, Jara Rodriguez, and Jayde Coleman each posted a 2-2 record in the tournament. Elizabeth Kovacs secured three wins in her five matches, while Kyan Miller battled her way into the quarterfinals, also winning three of her five matches.

Head coach Desiree Zavala reflected on her team's performance: "We entered the tournament with our entire group unranked, and the girls wrestled hard but came up short. My expectations were not met, but I am beyond proud of my girls. We faced a lot of adversity this season, and they pushed through. Each and every one of them became better wrestlers this year."

Next up for the Lady Vikes is the USA Wrestling Marine Corps Women's Nationals in Spokane, WA, on April 12.
