Lady Vikes Swept on the Road at Yakima Valley
After dropping a nailbiter to Blue Mountain Community College in their conference opener, the Big Bend Lady Vikings hit the road, this time to Yakima Valley College to face the Yaks.
Coming off a true back-and-forth battle against the Timberwolves, BBCC came out strong in the opening set, trading points early before falling 25–22. The narrow loss seemed to take the wind out of the Lady Vikes' sails, as they struggled in set two and dropped it by a lopsided 25–10 score. Yakima Valley completed the sweep with a 25–18 win in the third.
Charley Utley paced the Lady Vikes' attack with five kills, while Reagan Golladay and Hayden Plum added four and three, respectively. On the defensive end, Jah Chong and Golladay were active all night, combining for 29 digs. However, BBCC's 14 attack errors proved costly against the Yaks.
Big Bend (0–2 in conference) now turns its attention back home, preparing to host the Columbia Basin Hawks on Friday, September 26th, at the DeVries Activity Center in Moses Lake. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
