Slow Start Sinks Lady Vikings in Road Losses to Spokane
Coming off a tough tournament, the Big Bend Lady Vikings looked to reset in conference play as they traveled to Spokane to face the Sasquatch. Despite flashes of effort, a lack of timely offense and a few costly innings proved to be the difference in a pair of losses.
Game 1 quickly got away from the Lady Vikings, as Spokane capitalized early. A four-run first inning set the tone, and another four-run outburst in the fourth put the game out of reach. BBCC struggled to generate anything offensively, managing just one hit in the contest—courtesy of Mady Morris—in an 8–0 defeat.
Hoping for a better showing in Game 2, the Lady Vikings again found runs hard to come by. Spokane kept the pressure on, while BBCC's offense remained quiet through the early innings. The Lady Vikings finally broke through in the fifth inning for their lone run, but it wasn't enough to shift momentum. They finished with four hits on the game and fell 9–1.
Mady Morris continued to be a bright spot at the plate, collecting two more hits in Game 2 and finishing the day with three of the team's five total hits across both games.
With conference play continuing, the Lady Vikings will look to regroup as they return home. BBCC is set to host Wenatchee Valley College on Friday before welcoming Yakima Valley College on Saturday, aiming to get back on track in front of their home crowd.
