The Lady Vikings kicked off conference play this past weekend with a pair of road doubleheaders, showing flashes of offensive firepower while ultimately finishing with a 2–2 record.
BBCC opened Friday against Wenatchee Valley College and wasted no time getting the bats going. In game one, the Lady Vikings racked up 14 hits en route to an 8–5 victory. Dakota Brown led the charge offensively with three hits and was equally impressive in the circle, tossing a complete game while allowing five runs over seven innings.
Game two told a different story, as BBCC's offense cooled off significantly. The Lady Vikings managed just two runs and fell 5–2. Jaeda Gonzalez was a bright spot in the loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate and driving in a run.
On Saturday, BBCC traveled to Yakima Valley College to continue conference play. The offense came alive once again in game one, powering the Lady Vikings to a 10–4 win. Peyton Trautman and Dakota Brown each collected three hits, with Brown adding her first conference home run of the season in a standout performance.
However, consistency proved elusive in the second game. The Lady Vikings struggled both offensively and defensively, managing just three hits while committing five errors. Yakima Valley capitalized, handing BBCC a 15–3 loss in a five-inning mercy-rule decision.
Despite the up-and-down weekend, the Lady Vikings showed their potential on both sides of the ball, finishing 2–2 to open conference play.
BBCC now turns its focus to its conference home opener this weekend, where they will host Blue Mountain Community College on Friday and Treasure Valley Community College on Saturday, looking to build momentum in front of the home crowd.
