Second-Half Struggles Doom Vikings in Pendleton

Coming off a strong win over the Columbia Basin College, the Big Bend Vikings hit the road to Pendleton, Oregon, looking to build momentum against the Blue Mountain Timberwolves.

BBCC came out sharp in the opening half, executing efficiently on the offensive end. The Vikings shot an impressive 44 percent from the field and controlled the tempo, taking a 34–28 lead into the locker room at halftime. Their balanced attack and disciplined shot selection gave them the early edge on the road.

However, the second half told a much different story.

The Vikings' offense stalled dramatically after the break, managing just 30 percent shooting from the field. Perimeter struggles played a major role, as BBCC connected on only one of their 12 three-point attempts in the final 20 minutes. As the offense cooled off, defensive issues compounded the problem. Blue Mountain found its rhythm, shooting 47 percent from the floor in the second half and capitalizing on key scoring runs.

What was once a six-point Viking advantage quickly evaporated. The Timberwolves surged ahead, outscoring BBCC by 22 points in the second half to secure a 76–60 victory.

Tai Tairoa led the Vikings with 14 points and seven rebounds in the loss. Jakari Singleton and Sugar Eaton also contributed double figures, providing much of the team's offensive production on a difficult night.

With the setback, BBCC now turns its focus to the final stretch of the regular season. The Vikings will travel to Spokane on Wednesday to face the Spokane Sasquatch, aiming to regroup and finish the season on a strong note.
