Coming Off Back-to-Back Losses, Vikings Fall in Heartbreaker to Walla Walla

Coming off back-to-back losses, the Big Bend Vikings hoped to get back on track as they hosted the Walla Walla Warriors on Saturday, January 31st, at the DeVries Activity Center in Moses Lake. Instead, fans were treated to a nail-biter that came down to the final possession.

Big Bend struggled to find a rhythm offensively in the first half, shooting just 37 percent from the floor. Despite the slow start, the Vikings kept things close and headed into halftime trailing by only two, 39–37.

Looking to gain ground after the break, BBCC battled throughout the second half, trading baskets in a fast-paced and physical contest. Ultimately, the Vikings came up just short, falling 90–87 and suffering another heartbreaking loss.

Jakari Singleton led the Vikings offensively, pouring in 28 points on an efficient 12-of-19 shooting performance. Sugar Eaton followed with 20 points of his own, while Dominik Wojna recorded a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds in the loss.

Once again, the free-throw line proved costly for Big Bend. The Vikings shot just 45 percent from the charity stripe, converting only 9 of 20 attempts—missed opportunities that loomed large in a three-point game.

As the postseason nears, the Vikings' playoff hopes continue to fade. With the loss, Big Bend drops to 2–7 in conference play. The Vikings now turn their attention to a lengthy road trip this upcoming Saturday, when they travel to Treasure Valley Community College to take on the Chukars.
