Vikings Can’t Overcome Slow Start in Home Loss to Blue Mountain
Coming off a road win over the Yakima Valley Yaks, Big Bend Community College returned home to host Blue Mountain Community College on Saturday, January 24, at the DeVries Activity Center.
Slow starts have been a recurring issue for the Vikings this season, and the first half followed a familiar script. Big Bend headed into the break trailing 46–35 despite shooting an efficient 54 percent from the field. The difference came from beyond the arc, where the Timberwolves caught fire, knocking down 10 three-pointers in the first half to build their lead.
The Vikings made a push in the second half, closing the gap and matching Blue Mountain's intensity, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome. Big Bend ultimately fell by a final score of 85–69.
Big Bend finished the night shooting exactly 50 percent from the floor and was led by Dominik Wojna, who recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Sugar Eaton and Jakari Singleton provided additional scoring punch, adding 15 and 14 points respectively.
With the loss, the Vikings drop to 2–4 in conference play and will look to bounce back as they prepare to host Wenatchee Valley College this upcoming Wednesday at the DeVries Activity Center.
