Vikings Fall to Treasure Valley in Conference Home Opener

Coming off a nail-biter victory over Wenatchee Valley College to open conference play, Big Bend Community College returned home Saturday, January 10, to host Treasure Valley Community College at the DeVries Activity Center. What followed was an uphill battle from the opening tip, as the Vikings were unable to overcome a slow start and ultimately dropped their second conference game, 88–77.

Treasure Valley set the tone early, building momentum behind a hot shooting performance. Big Bend found itself playing catch-up for much of the first half and went into the locker room trailing 48–33. While the Vikings shot a respectable 45 percent from the field in the opening half, Treasure Valley's ability to stretch the floor proved decisive, knocking down 10 three-pointers before halftime to create separation.

Big Bend showed resilience coming out of the break, finding its offensive rhythm and shooting 44 percent from the field in the second half. The Vikings chipped away but were unable to fully erase the 15-point deficit, as Treasure Valley continued to answer key runs down the stretch.

Sugar Eaton led the way for Big Bend, finishing with a game-high 23 points on an efficient 6-of-10 shooting performance. Dominik Wojna and Jakari Singleton each added 12 points, providing solid support, but it wasn't enough to swing the outcome.

The Vikings will look to bounce back quickly as they return to the DeVries Activity Center to host Spokane Community College this Wednesday, with tip-off set for 5 p.m.
