Guerrero, Doig, and Fleming Headline Vikings’ Eastern Region Honors
With the season coming to a close, the Eastern Region Awards were announced, and the Vikings brought home four major honors.
Leading the way was sophomore two-way standout Ricardo Leon Guerrero II, who earned First Team Two-Way Player honors. The Chalan Pago, Guam native put together an impressive sophomore campaign on both sides of the ball, hitting .284 with three home runs, one triple, six doubles, and 23 RBIs. On the mound, Guerrero became a reliable late-inning weapon out of the bullpen, recording seven saves with a 3.00 ERA. He wraps up his Viking career with a .276 batting average, five home runs, three triples, 11 doubles, and 50 RBIs across 89 games.
Next up was redshirt sophomore Ryley Doig, who earned All-Conference honors for the second time in his Viking career with a Second Team Outfield selection. The Olds, Alberta product finished the season hitting .305 with two home runs, two triples, eight doubles, and 29 RBIs. Over three seasons with the Vikings, Doig posted a .299 career batting average with six home runs, eight triples, 15 doubles, and 70 RBIs in 94 games played.
Rounding out the honors was Viking workhorse Chase Fleming, who earned both Second Team Pitcher honors and a Gold Glove as a pitcher after putting together a spectacular season. Fleming tossed 66 innings with a stellar 2.59 ERA across 12 starts while also displaying elite-level defense on the mound.
