Vikings Stay Hot, Sweep Timberwolves Behind Dominant Pitching and Explosive Bats
With just eight regular season games remaining, the Vikings are making their push for the postseason at exactly the right time.
Taking on Blue Mountain Community College at home, the Vikings delivered a statement performance against the Timberwolves, powered by dominant pitching and a surging offense.
Game one belonged entirely to sophomore ace Chase Fleming, who turned in his best outing of the season. Fleming was untouchable on the mound, tossing a complete game shutout while striking out eight in a commanding 9–0 victory. He controlled the game from start to finish, giving the Vikings the momentum they needed.
Offensively, Ryley Doig set the tone, collecting three hits while scoring three runs and driving in two. Isaiah Aliksa and Owen Mayencourt added to the offensive surge with two RBIs apiece, as the Vikings' lineup proved too much for the Timberwolves to handle.
Looking to complete the sweep, the Vikings turned to sophomore Nelson Ahumada in game two. While Ahumada battled command issues—walking six batters over 4 2/3 innings—he limited the damage and held Blue Mountain to just two runs, keeping the Vikings within striking distance.
The bullpen stepped up in a big way. Dayton Shimatsu delivered 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief before Alex Hirai and Ricardo Leon Guerrero closed the door to secure the win.
Meanwhile, Doig continued his dominant day at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 while scoring three runs and driving in three RBIs, including his first home run of the season. Keagan Pacheco also contributed with a two-hit performance, helping lead the Vikings to a 6–4 victory and the series sweep.
With momentum building, the Vikings now hit the road to Pendleton, Oregon, where they'll look to finish the series strong against the Timberwolves and keep their postseason hopes alive.
