Vikings Split Series Finale with Walla Walla Behind Strong Game One Performance
Coming off a Thursday split, the Vikings faced a quick turnaround as they hosted Walla Walla for the final two games of their four-game set on Saturday, April 25. The day ended in another split, highlighted by a dominant Game One performance before a tougher showing in Game Two.
In the opener, Owen Relkoff was handed the ball for the second consecutive outing and delivered yet again. The right-hander was sharp through six innings, allowing just three runs—only one earned—while striking out three. Relkoff kept the Warriors off balance all afternoon before handing things over to Cole McKinnon, who shut the door with three scoreless innings to secure the win.
With the pitching staff in control, the Vikings offense took advantage. Owen Mayencourt led the charge with a standout performance, collecting three hits and driving in three runs. Ryley Doig and Ricardo Leon Guerrero each added two hits, with Guerrero also contributing three RBIs to pace the attack. The Vikings' balanced offensive effort proved to be more than enough in a well-rounded Game One victory.
Game Two, however, told a different story.
The Vikings quickly found themselves in an early hole, trailing 8–1 after four innings. Josh Stirm got the start but struggled to find his command, surrendering three runs in the opening frame before being relieved by Nelson Ahumada. While the pitching staff settled in after the rough start, the early deficit proved difficult to overcome.
Offensively, the Vikings showed fight. Jaime Ruelas and Kaiden Weakley each tallied three hits, sparking a mid-game push. Keagan Pacheco and Isaiah Aliksa added two hits apiece as the lineup worked to chip away at the Warriors' lead. Despite the effort, the comeback fell short, and the Vikings dropped the finale by a score of 12–7.
The split caps a competitive four-game set, with the Vikings continuing to show flashes of strong pitching and offensive production as they move forward in conference play.
