Vikings Split Road Doubleheader Against Warriors

After a tough series against Treasure Valley Community College, the Vikings were forced to reshuffle their schedule due to weather, pushing their matchup against Walla Walla Community College back a day. The adjustment didn't slow them down, as they traveled to Walla Walla on Thursday for a doubleheader against the Warriors.

In game one, sophomore right-hander Chase Fleming delivered a strong outing on the mound. Fleming worked seven innings, allowing three runs while striking out seven and keeping the Vikings within striking distance. Dayton Shimatsu followed with a scoreless eighth inning to give the Vikings a chance late.

Offensively, however, the Vikings struggled to find consistency. Managing just four hits and striking out 14 times, they couldn't generate enough momentum, falling just short in a 3–2 loss. Jaime Ruelas provided a bright spot, going 2-for-3 at the plate and launching his first collegiate home run to spark the offense.

Game two told a completely different story.

The Vikings came out swinging, putting up four runs in the first inning, five more in the third, and adding three in the fifth to take control early. The offensive explosion carried them to a 12–8 victory, evening the series.

Owen Mayencourt led the charge, going 2-for-5 with four RBIs in a standout performance. He was supported by a balanced lineup, as Ricardo Leon Guerrero, Ryley Doig, and Rylan Osbjornsen each contributed two hits apiece in the win.

With the split on the road, the Vikings now prepare for a quick turnaround as they host the Warriors on Saturday to wrap up the series.
