After entering Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) play unranked, the Big Bend Community College Lady Vikings have now opened East Region play by knocking off No. 6 North Idaho (78-62) and No. 4 ranked Spokane (72-46) last week.
On Saturday night in Spokane, the Lady Vikes picked up their second conference win with a solid team performance led by Kayla Luke (FR; Sugar City, ID) who led all scorers with 19 points while also picking up 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal. The balanced attack was supplemented by Leah Dougherty (SO; Rexburg, ID), Miranda Johnson (SO; Salt Lake City, UT), Kelsey Sorenson (FR; Price, UT), and Anna Yarbro (FR; Moses Lake, WA) who each finished with 10 points and 6, 8, 9, and 7 rebounds respectively.
Freshman Hannah Wilson (Rexburg, ID) also had a good game adding 7 points and 9 rebounds.
BBCC used an explosive second quarter where they outscored Spokane 25-4 to distance themselves from Spokane and never looked back.
The Lady Vikes are now 13-2 overall and 2-0 in the NWAC East and atop the standings along with Walla Walla (12-3, 2-0) and Wenatchee Valley (12-2, 1-0).
Big Bend will travel to Pasco on Wednesday to face Columbia Basin College at 2 p.m. (10-4, 1-1) and will then play host to Yakima Valley (9-5, 0-2) on Saturday.
