After a first-half battle that saw both teams knotted 43-43 at the half, Spokane went on a 14-2 run early in the second half, and never relinquished the lead again, and handed the Runnin' Vikes their second-consecutive Northwest Athletic Conference East Region loss to open conference play, 100-87.
All five of the Big Bend starters finished in double-figures led by Joey Andrews (SO; Riverton, UT) with 22 points and 7 rebounds and Miles Brown (SO:) who notched a double-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks. Koby Huerta (SO; Covington, WA), Mauricio Smith (SO; Las Vegas, NV), and Seraphin Decker (SO; Las Vegas, NV) added 17, 15, and 15 points respectively.
Spokane got a huge night off the bench from Tanner McCliment-Call who led all scorers with 26 points while shooting 9-of-13 from the field — including 3-of-5 from 3 points, and 5-of-6 from the free throw line.
After opening the season with a 10-1 record, the Runnin' Vikes have dropped their first to NWAC East games to the No. 1 (North Idaho) and No. 6 (Spokane) teams in the conference. BBCC will have a chance to begin to right the ship on Wednesday when they travel to Pasco to take on Columbia Basin. They will then return to the Peter DeVries Center on Saturday to play host to Yakima Valley.
Wednesday's contest on the road at Columbia Basin College will be streaming live HERE.
