Runnin' Vikes protect home court, pickup two wins this weekend

Big Bend Community College held off a late Grays Harbor run Friday night before handling the team from the Fairchild Airforce Base on Saturday evening to improve to 7-1 overall during the first part of the 2018-19 season.

The Runnin' Vikes are shooting a combined 52 percent from the field and 39.6 percent from behind the 3-point line during the stretch.

Big Bend 98, Grays Harbor 94

Sophomore point guard Kobe Huerta (Covington WA) led all scorers with 29 points (6-of-12 from 3 and 10-of-20 from the field) while also grabbing 5 rebounds and handing out four assists. Sophomore Joey Andrews (Riverton, UT) was next in line with 17 points, 5 boards, and 3 assists with sophomores Miles Brown (Sandy, OR) and Seraphin Decker (Las Vegas, NV) scoring 15 and 14 respectively with Decker also adding 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals.

Freshman Michael Washington (Las Vegas, NV) kicked in 9 points and 2 rebounds off the bench.

Big Bend 111, Fairchild AFB 77

Big Bend forward Miles Brown had a big game on Saturday notching a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds in the win over Fairchild Air Force Base. Huerta knocked down 18, and Decker rolled up 16 points to go along with his 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and a pair of steals.

Andrews finished with 15, and freshman Kendall Engelhart (Bellingham, WA)  dropped 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds off the bench in the winning effort.

The Running Vikes will travel to Bellingham this weekend for an FRI-SAT-SUN tournament at Whatcom Community College. Schedule TBD.
