MOSES LAKE — The Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) recently released its list of Student-Athlete Academic Excellence qualifiers. The honor is given to sophomore athletes that have earned a 3.25 GPA or higher during their two years of competing in the conference.
The names of 15 Big Bend Community College athletes were on the list. This comes as no surprise as the Vikings Athletic Department has been the very definition of "student-athlete" in recent years winning the NWAC President's Cup (for highest GPA) for two consecutive years. The award has been in existence for a total of five years with the Vikings winning the award three times and placing second twice.
"We have been extremely proud of how our athletes have performed in the classroom," said Athletic Director Mark Poth. "As an athletic department, we do our best to provide the structure and resources that allow our athletes to be competitive academically and in their chosen sport. We appreciate the (NWAC) for recognizing their performance."
